Dawn Maiorano has launched a new company, Maiorano Media Group. The company's primary focus will be on planning and buying national, regional and local media. Maiorano has been active in the Las Vegas advertising and media community since 1997.

Architecture

JMA Architecture Studios added three members to its Las Vegas Commercial Studio and three to its Green Valley Commercial Studio. New members in Las Vegas are Jan Florendo as project professional IV, Eugene Villoso as Drafter I and Douglas Zytka as senior drafter. The Green Valley office additions are Harold Lopez as project professional VII, Elaine Norris as project administrator and Aaron Heimberg as senior drafter.

JMA Architecture Studios hired four members for their Interiors Studio in Las Vegas. They include Dawn Guy, resource coordinator; Paulette Hallis, interior designer VI; Xerxes Coyco, job captain; and Kevin Welch, senior drafter.

Awards

Ed Lepere, community leader and general manager of Lawry's Prime Rib, has been honored with the Rotarian of The Year Award. Lepere is concurrently being given the Paul Harris Fellow which is given in the name of the Rotary founder and represents the national standard for exceptional performance.

The Clark County Water Reclamation District received a Peak Performance Award by the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies. The District was given the award representing five consecutive years of permit compliance.

Construction

Stoltz Management Company appointed Ty Trueblood to director of project management. Trueblood is responsible for managing tenant improvements and the construction of new buildings. He brings more than 30 years of experience to Stoltz Management Company having worked in the construction of more than one-million square feet of residential, retail, warehouse and office space.

Jaynes Corporation announced Steve Brooke as vice president of its Nevada operations. He will assume all executive responsibilities for the Jaynes' Southern Nevada Division. Brooke is formerly director of southeast operations for Fluor Corporation, based in South Carolina.

Pulte Homes/Del Webb Nevada promoted Dea McDonald to area vice president of Land Development. McDonald will provide leadership to both the Pulte Homes Traditional and Del Webb Land Development departments.

Pulte Homes/Del Webb Nevada promoted Jack Bassett to vice president of Land Development and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Del Webb Land Development department.

Pulte Homes/Del Webb Nevada promoted John Mayer to vice president of Land Development and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Pulte Homes Land Development department.

Pulte Homes/Del Webb Nevada promoted Heidi Bretthauer to director of land acquisition.

Las Vegas Handyman, Inc. announced Corey Pritchett as field craftsman. Pritchett's responsibilities include residential and commercial repairs, remodeling, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, drywall, stucco and various other types of handyman services. Previously, Pritchett worked as a plumber.

Martin-Harris Construction announced Jeff Heath as project manager.

Las Vegas Handyman, Inc. announced Matthew Trott as field craftsman. Trott's responsibilities include residential and commercial repairs, remodeling, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, drywall, stucco and various other types of handyman services. Previously, Trott was self employed.

Martin-Harris Construction announced Wes Woodhall as estimator.

Plise Companies, LLC announced Kari Turnbow as leasing manager. Turnbow's responsibilities will include managing all marketing and leasing aspects of Plise Companies office and retail portfolio, including touring prospective tenants, preparation and presentation of LOI's/Leases, and preliminary lease negotiations. Turnbow brings with her significant experience in commercial real estate marketing and management.

Martin-Harris Construction announced the appointment of two project managers, Ron Rose and Jeff Forsythe. Martin-Harris currently has 30 projects in progress.

Martin-Harris Construction announced David Hayes as superintendent. Hayes has an extensive construction background and will be overseeing several major projects for Martin-Harris.

Education

Merryhill Elementary School at Durango announced Kimberly Way as principal. Way will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the highest quality of education at the school. Way brings extensive experience in education to Merryhill Elementary, as she previously held the position of principal of Merryhill School at Peccole since 2001.

International Academy of Design and Technology announced Jason Smith as president. Smith oversees the curriculum and operations of the Las Vegas campus of IADT. He has more than 12 years of experience working in higher education serving in various positions including business manager, director of financial services, operations controller and campus director.

International Academy of Design and Technology announced John Schrieber as controller. Schrieber formulates and manages the operating budget while overseeing all financial policies. He has more than nine years of experience working in the financial industry in Las Vegas. Prior to joining IADT, he worked with Ford Motor Credit and Sprint.

International Academy of Design and Technology announced Carol Anderson as director of education. Anderson implements the school's policies and procedures while monitoring the curricula and accreditation compliance. Prior to joining IADT, Anderson taught in the Psychology Department at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts.

International Academy of Design and Technology announced Jocelyn Vasquez as director of admissions. Vasquez manages the admissions representatives and oversees marketing efforts. She has more than five years of admissions management experience. Prior to joining IADT, she served as the director of admissions for Heald College in California.

The Nevada Tobacco User's Helpline, a division of the University of Nevada, School of Medicine; Department of Internal Medicine announced Jason Hartrich as public relations and marketing specialist. Hartrich comes to the Helpline project with an extensive background creating strategic communication plans.

Employment/Staffing

Manpower Inc. of Southern Nevada announced Margie Kinney and Lucy Alvarez have joined Manpower's West Sahara office as staffing specialists. Minney and Alvarez will be responsible for delivering high quality service to customers and temporaries by matching skills of temporaries to customer needs, developing and retaining business by providing customer service, and performing a variety of administrative tasks.

Engineering

The Kelly Design Group, LLC promoted Christopher Mounger to project manager. His duties shall include an increased level of client contact and project management providing structural engineering services for residential developers in the Las Vegas area.

Southwest Engineering announced David Potter as manager of Public Works. For nearly 15 years, he has served as branch manager in engineering offices with overall responsibility for business administration, contract administration, project management, office management, business development, and strategic/business planning. Potter's responsibilities include contract administration and management of all public works projects.

Geotechnical & Environmental Services Inc. announced Nakisha White as a lab technician. White will perform laboratory testing of soils, concrete and asphalt for residential, commercial and public works projects in the Las Vegas area.

Stanley Consultants, Inc. announced Shawn Fleming as national director of the company's commercial and residential development. Fleming will be responsible for identifying, creating, and expanding the company's Development Services Business in targeted locations. Fleming joined Stanley Consultants in 1991.

CivilWorksInc announced Greg Buxton as project engineer. He brings 13 years of working experience from Utah and, most recently, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where he held the position of city utility engineer for Water and Sewer and Land Development Departments.

Finance

Nevada First Bank announced Vicky King as vice president and human resources officer. King will assume all human resources responsibilities for the Bank. She will be based out of our Rainbow Corporate headquarters. Prior to joining Nevada First Bank, King was the recruitment manager for the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and the human resources manager for Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada and Lake Las Vegas Resort.

Fair, Anderson & Langerman hired Peyman Kermanshahi to serve as a network technician in the expanding FAL Information Technology Services Group (FALIT). Kermanshahi brings four years of experience as a network administrator for both small family-owned businesses and large corporations to the firm.

U.S. Bank announced Justin Ritenour as vice president and business development officer for commercial banking.

Community One Federal Credit Union announced appointments of several new employees. Jim Falls has been named branch manager of the Horizon and Center Pointe branches; Michael Munkers as collections manager; Steve Littman as assistant manager of the Renaissance branch; Leslie Halvari-Banks as small business officer, and Jo Anne Kot as dealer relationship representative.

Colonial Bank of Nevada announced Jaemie Caporali as a new customer sales representative. Caporali will be responsible for opening new, customized business and personal accounts based on the client's goals and needs. She will also be responsible for the promotion of Colonial Bank's products and services. Caporali brings more than 10 years of banking experience to Colonial.

Government

The Police Management and Supervisors Associates selected Judge Doug Smith as candidate for the Nevada Supreme Court Seat "E" by unanimous vote. Smith received another major law enforcement endorsement from the Nevada Conference of Police and Sheriffs Associations.

Gov. Kenny Guinn appointed James Jeffress to the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners. Jeffress, 55, served on the Nevada Department of Wildlife for 31 years before retiring in March 2003.

Gov. Kenny Guinn appointed Timothy Cashman to the Nevada Commission of Ethics. Cashman, 44, is president of The Cashman Companies and is currently serving as chairman of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees.

The Public Utilities Commission announced the promotions of Andie Arthurholtz to supervisor of the Consumer Complaint Resolution Division and Erika Hernandez and Azucena Maldon-Parks to compliance investigators within the Consumer Complaint Resolution Division.

Insurance

Lance Knight, a registered representative with Merrill Lynch Inc. in Las Vegas, has earned his membership in the 2004 Leadership Council for PLANCO, a wholesalers of investment and insurance products for The Harford. Council members are reserved for those representatives who produce more than $1 million in Harford Leaders sales in a calendar year.

Law

Kolesar & Leatham named David Alleman an attorney. Alleman will practice primarily in the areas of real estate and corporate law, commercial transactions, and litigation. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada and is admitted to practice law before the U.S. District Court of Nevada as well as all Nevada state courts.

Kolesar & Leatham named Matthew Dushoff an attorney. Prior to joining the firm, Dushoff served as a deputy attorney general for the Nevada Office of the Attorney General where he represented government agencies including the Nevada Taxicab Authority, Nevada Labor Commission, Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, the Nevada Real Estate Division and the Employee Management Relations Board.

McDonald Carano Wilson LLP announced Jim Bradshaw has been elected to the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Nevada. The Board is responsible for governing and providing for the administration of the legal profession in Nevada. Bradshaw, a partner in the firm and head of the firm's litigation practice group, practices in litigation, construction and employment law, and represents business clients in Nevada's state and federal courts.

The Law Firm of Hutchison & Steffen added Mark Smith to the firm. His areas of practice include business and commercial litigation, medical malpractice and insurance defense. Smith received his juris doctor degree from Drake University Law School.

Medical

Desert Radiologists announced Rhonda Lipsman as imaging facility manager. Lipsman will be responsible for the general oversight and direction of facility operations. She will provide direction to technical and patient care related issues within all departments and will assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.

Dr. Kochy Tang announced the opening of her new practice, High Maintenance, A Medical Salon at 866 Seven Hills Dr., # 102. High Maintenance, A Medical Salon specializes in Mesotherapy, a new spot fat reduction treatment.

Nonprofit Organizations

The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers elected officers for 2004-2005. AGEM's president is Walt Stowe of Aristocrat Technologies, Orrin Eddin from WMS Gaming is vice president, Erik Batzloff from JCM American is secretary, Brooke Dunn from Shuffle Master Gaming is treasurer and Neil Friedman of IGT is general counsel.

The Ambassadors, Business Action and Marketing committees of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce have elected new chairs and vice chairs for 2004-2005. Mike Cureton of Black Mountain Community Bank will lead the Ambassadors, which oversees and monitors the membership growth of the Chamber. Todd Hauge of Edward Jones and Sandy Abrams of Take on Your Health/Juice Plus will serve as the vice chairs. Bob Mumm of BCNS Technologies will serve as chair of the Business Action Committee and Barbara Jager of Knapp Realty and Glen Miller of Glen Miller Allstate Agency will serve as the vice chairs. D.J. Allen of Imagine Marketing of Nevada, Inc. will serve as chair of the Marketing Committee and Vicki Duncan of Galleria at Sunset and Annie Rumary of On-Press Printing will serve as the vice chairs.

Henderson Development Association re-elected Karen Marshall to serve on its board. Marshall, who leads the business development program for the Las Vegas office of Roel Construction, has been an active member of the HDA for over 15 years. In addition, Kathy Jumper of Colonial Bank and Chris Larsen of Dekker/Perich/Holmes/Sabatini were elected as new trustees.

Public Relations

Preferred Public Relations & Marketing promoted Gina Yager from account executive to senior account executive. Yager will continue to service the company's national client roster in addition to helping initiate overall strategy campaigns for new and existing clients. Yager also was recently awarded a 2004 Communicator Award of Distinction for her campaign on John Robert Powers.

Kirvin Doak Communications announced Beth Agan as account executive. Agan came to KDC from the Indy Racing League where she was the manager of public relations. During the last six years, she developed and executed numerous public relations campaigns and events for the Indianapolis 500.

Preferred Public Relations & Marketing announced Stephen Miller as associate account executive. Miller's responsibilities include corresponding with media and clients, implementing strategic public relations' plans, creating press materials, and facilitating events. Miller spent seven years in the U.S. Air Force as a radio and television broadcast journalist. Upon leaving the military, he has worked as a news photojournalist at KVBC-TV in Las Vegas, WFXT-TV in Boston, and most recently, KVWB in Las Vegas.

Real Estate

Southwest Title Co. appointed Trina Reynolds to escrow officer at the company's Eastern Avenue office. Reynolds will be responsible for complete management of escrow files, including opening and closing escrow accounts; researching property information; providing updated correspondence to agents, lenders, buyers and sellers; and ensuring compliance with local escrow requirements.

Coldwell Banker Commercial ETN announced E. Thomas Naseef, president of Coldwell Banker, has received SIOR designation. In addition, Naseef also holds the CCIM designation.

Restaurant

Giorgio Caffé and Ristorante at Mandalay Place promoted Frank Micalizzi to general manager. He previously served as manager of The Grille at Valentino. In his new position, Micalizzi is responsible for operating the restaurant to its full capability. Bringing more than 23 years restaurant experience to Giorgio Caffé and Ristorante, Micallizi has worked in various positions for a variety of restaurants.

Retail

The Boulevard Mall announced Chad Rinella as the director of public safety. Rinella comes to mall from Mt. Prospect, IL, as security manager for STT, Inc., where he re-assessed the direction of the security program and oversaw the daily operations of the department. Rinella has extensive security management experience including serving as director of security and security manager for two Chicago area companies.

The Boulevard Mall announced John Schimanski as assistant director of public safety. Schimanski has served as an officer and manager of public safety in California for the last 10 years. Most recently, Schimanski worked as the assistant director of public safety for the Galleria at Tyler Mall in Riverside, CA, where he oversaw the security program's schedule and assisted in training programs for new and veteran officers.

M.J. Christensen Diamond Centers announced Cliff Miller, president and CEO of M.J. Christensen, will be inducted into the prestigious GIA League of Honor. Miller, a GIA Graduate Gemologist and American Gem Society Certified Gemologist Appraiser, began his career in the stockroom at Georgia-based A.A. Freedman Company in 1971.

Technology

Smart Systems International, a leading innovator of intelligent energy-saving management systems for the hotel industry, promoted Julie NDoumy to operations director. NDoumy will oversee all aspects of Smart Systems' operations including product installations, site surveys, quality and inventory control, staff performance, procedure establishment and implementation.
