Home life in Las Vegas just got easier. With the first-ever franchise of a personal concierge service open in the city that never sleeps, Las Vegans and tourists can now buy themselves more play time.
New franchise owner Ann Brommenschenhel and president Julie Hagenmaier look forward to serving the Las Vegas market.
My Girl Friday has been attending to the personal needs of its clients in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana since 1999. The company was designed by Founder and President Julie Hagenmaier when she found herself in need of the type of services her company now provides. She searched for a personal concierge service that could assist her in meeting her family's needs, but soon realized that no such company existed. Or at least none that provided exactly the help she desired.
Instead of accepting the services which were available, Hagenmaier formed My Girl Friday. Six years later, the first franchise of her company is open and ready for business in Las Vegas.
Ann Brommenschenkel is the buyer of the first ever My Girl Friday franchise and will offer the company's services to both residents and tourists alike. "My Girl Friday was listed as one the 'hot new 100 franchises for 2005' in Entrepreneur Magazine. I had wanted to start a concierge service when I first moved to Vegas [three years ago]. It was a perfect match," remembers Brommenschenkel.
One of the company's local corporate partners, Key To Travel, offers My Girl Friday's services as an added service to customers. Other corporate partners include KAO Brands and Huff Realty. "Some companies use it as a private service or use it as an employee incentive or benefit," says Hagenmaier.
The plan to franchise has always been on the horizon, according to Hagenmaier. After meeting with a franchise attorney and finishing the franchise plan last July, she was ready to set her plan into action. "My Girl Friday has corporate partners, strategic partners that market My Girl Friday in the Las Vegas region, so it was important for us to have a presence here," says Hagenmaier.
After filing an application to franchise with My Girl Friday and submitting to a background check, Brommenschenkel was invited to the company's headquarters in Cincinnati for "Discovery Day," where potential franchisees meet the company's management and learn about the personal concierge service's mission. Soon after attending "Discovery Day," she received the Uniform Franchise Offer Circular and then began negotiations on the costs of her franchise.
"If we bring you up to Discovery Day, then we're comfortable giving you a franchise, unless something drastic happens at Discovery Day. Then we negotiate the franchise agreement," explains Hagenmaier.
My Girl Friday franchises cost anywhere from $47,000 to $86,000, depending on equipment and office start up costs. The initial franchise fee is $31,500, which is included in the total figure. The cost includes marketing help from the corporate office, on-going support and training. Franchisees are also granted an exclusive territory in their region. Brommenschenkel's operation has the exclusive rights to the western territory of Las Vegas.
Hagenmaier projects that the Las Vegas operation of My Girl Friday will grow from one person to having from five to ten employees in the next 18 months. The company hires independent contractors, which mostly appeals to people willing to work flexible hours. Brommenschenkel explains that college students and retired workers make ideal independent contractors, because of their flexible schedules.
The company is mainly a cash business, with most transactions paid up front with a credit card or cash. Services cost clients anywhere from $30 to $60 an hour, depending on the chore, according to Hagenmaier. My Girl Friday offers a full menu of services including traditional concierge services, personal chefs, errand running, pet care, party planning and assisting with business tasks.
"We can come to your home and make your life easier," offers Brommenschenkel.
