Rising Star David Gass

Business Credit Services

David Gass started his business consulting company in his house in 2001 and today it has 25 employees and will reach the $3 million mark in sales. He started the company after he wrote a book about building business credit and getting subsequent calls from people with questions about credit services.

The book, which he self-published, sold 6,000 copies on the Internet. But instead of it leading to requests for him to be a corporate speaker, it pointed him in the direction of opening a company that would have the same purpose.

Today, Gass' Business Credit Services works with start-up companies or companies that are at the toddler stage. The company helps owners separate personal credit from business credit, and assists them with their financing, business plans and incorporation needs.

Gass says his biggest frustration is in "finding ways to market what we do." On the other hand, the most rewarding aspect of what he does is working with small businesses "to see their dreams come through."

The UNLV graduate says his company is launching a Web site with information to help people wanting to start a business.

Gass, who was recently appointed to the Clark County School District's Marketing Technical Skills Committee, has provided $10,000 in scholarships and support for high school students this year.

Starting a new venture does not faze Gass. "Everything is a life lesson. I want to make mistakes because the more mistakes I make, the more I Iearn," said the man who started his business with just $500.

His advice to people contemplating starting a business? "Just create action and get it going."
