A change at the top of Morgans Hotel Group should not slow the application for a gaming license of the New York-based owners of the Hard Rock Hotel.
The gaming license application process is already well under way and the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Ed Scheetz on Sept. 20 should not slow the process, according to state Gaming Control Board Chairman Dennis Neilander.
Neilander said whomever is appointed to replace Scheetz would have to apply as a key employee separately, similar to any other high-level hiring at any casino.
Morgans Hotel Group acquired the Hard Rock Hotel in February for $770 million. Locally based Golden Gaming is managing the casino under a two-year contract.

High-rise residents can't get away from everything.
Julie Stapleton, a resident of Turnberry Place luxury condominiums on Paradise Road, is worried about noise and pollution that will be created by a new parking garage at the Fontainebleau project on the Strip.
The Clark County Commission approved what she described as "prisonlike" parking structure and says it will be "an absolute environmental disaster."
What's worse, Stapleton said, is that the garage will block the view Turnberry residents like her now enjoy.
